Delete Your Account

How to delete your account

Account deletion is done from inside the iFAMED app, so we can verify it's really you before permanently removing your data:

  1. Sign in to iFAMED and withdraw any remaining naira wallet balance to your bank account — your balance must be zero before deletion can proceed.
  2. Go to Settings → Security → Delete Account.
  3. Confirm with your transaction PIN (or your password, if you haven't set a PIN).

If you don't have the app installed, you can sign in on the web and follow the same steps.

What gets deleted

Deletion is immediate and permanent. Your profile, wallet, transaction history, receipts, saved bank accounts, notifications, and active sessions are removed from our production database.

What we retain, and why

Under the Money Laundering (Prevention and Prohibition) Act 2022 and the CBN's AML/CFT/CPF Regulations, Nigerian financial-services providers are required to keep certain KYC and transaction records for a minimum period — commonly five (5) years from account closure or the last transaction, whichever is later — even after a customer's account is deleted. Exact record types and retention periods are set by iFAMED's compliance policy and may be updated to reflect regulatory guidance.
